How To Henna + Indigo
Before dyeing･･･
- Please do a patch test 3 days before applying the henna.
- Wear clothes that can be dirty.
- If you are worried about wall or floor to become dirty, please cover them by newspapers.
Things to be prepared
- henna powder
- a pair of gloves
- hot water（45℃ approximately）
- a bowl
- a spoon
- a cape（or a big towel）
- 2 dried towel（for keeping warm, which can be dirty and for hair wash)
- a shower cap（high heat retaining aluminium cap,or a wool or fleece cap that can be dirty
- tissue paper（cut into 3-cm pieces）
- cream（if you do not want your skin dyed）
Length of hair and rough amount of henna powder

| ※ For first application, please increase henna powder 20 grams more and put on the paste plentifully. | |
| ※ You can adjust the stickiness of the paste by adding the powder or the hot water. The appropriate stickiness is similar to that of mayonnaise. |
How to dye
1. Hair wash
※ Enter of color is better for hair without hairdressing.
※ If the skin is colored, the color will fade out in a few days.

Wet your hair and lightly wipe by a towel.

To prevent skin coloring, thickly put the cream on the hairline. (optional)
2. Making the paste
| ※The indigo will not give color if it is dissolved with boiled water. | |
| ※The indigo starts coloring after dissolving and stops within 1 hour. So please dissolve just before applying. |

Put the hot water (45℃) onto the powder to make the paste. The stickiness is approximately similar to mayonnaise.
3. Applying the paste
| ※The hairline can be neatly dyed by starting applying the paste from the hairline. |

Put on the paste by hand from the scalp generously. -
Bring the applied hair together at the parietal.

Apply the paste similarly to all part of the head.
After completing, lightly massage the head. -
If you care about the hairline, generously apply the paste and press over by tissue papers, which make the paste stay on the hair and result in better coloring.
4. Keeping warm for 1 hour
| ※ Oxygen, moisture and temperature are very important for the indigo to yield good coloring. | |
| ※ The indigo almost releases pigment within 1 hours after dissolving. If you apply the paste longer than 1 hour, henna's brilliant color will dominate the final color. | |
| ※ Stay in a warm place. The color is difficult to enter at low temperature, especially in winter. |

Cover your head by a dried towel directly over the paste to make an air layer.

Heat the head by a hairdryer over the towel for a few minutes. -
Wear a high heat-retaining cap over the towel for 1 hour.
5. Washing
| ※ The indigo continues coloring for few days by oxidization with the oxygen. So please do not use a conditioner that coats your hair for few days. | |

※ The moisture is also important for good coloring. We recommend to let your hair dry naturally (without using a hairdryer). Keeping your hair warm by waring a cap also gives coloring. |

Rinse the paste out and shampoo.
